Bike To Work Challenge 2005
Congratulations to the Wood Stone Rollers!
Wood Stone Corporation won the first annual bike week
challenge put on by the Mt. Baker Bicycle Club. Several Wood
Stone employees joined together to compete in the weeklong
challenge as the Wood Stone Rollers.
The Bike Week Challenge attracted 24 teams and individuals. Teams of four to six people accumulated points by getting people to bike to work during the week of May 15-21. Points were awarded for the number of people on the team that biked to work. However, double points were awarded to those who didn't regularly bike to work teams could also 'pad' their score with cash donations that go to support the Bike to Work and School Day.
The Wood Stone Rollers won by accumulating the most points (95) and were awarded the Traveling Bike Week Trophy and a catered gourmet lunch from Ciao Thyme catering. The unique kinetic trophy was hand crafted by Hub Master Kyle Morris and will be kept on display at the Wood Stone factory. Wood Stone's team consisted of 6 members, four regular commuters (including its President of Engineering & Manufacturing) and two newbie's. The team was also aided by others in the company that don't commute by bike because of distance.
